The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Association of Educational Lecturers in Basra, organized its third integrated international scientific conference under the slogan of scientific sobriety in education and future challenges, with the participation of more than 80 researchers from different countries for the period from October 16-17, 2024. The conference aimed to shed light on the reality of education in universities and educational institutions and their mechanism of work in light of the increasing numbers of students over the absorptive capacity, the relationship between secondary schools and universities in general and colleges of education in particular, and the impact and influence of secondary school outputs on university inputs and achieving intellectual cross-fertilization among educators, in addition to studying contemporary problems in light of technological development and revealing the role of education in environmental awareness. The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Nidaa Mohammed Baqer, said that the aim of the conference is to emphasize the scientific solidity of academic studies and keep pace with various developments and innovations in the fields of education, adopt modern and diverse teaching methods, and provide opportunities for cooperation between researchers and academics in a fruitful scientific meeting, stressing the college's keenness to cooperate with various scientific institutions to exchange experiences in a way that enhances scientific communication and cognitive integration among participants. The conference focused on (educational and psychological sciences and educational guidance), Arabic language, history, environment, Quranic sciences, mathematics, life sciences, biotechnology, research into contemporary problems and sustainable development, environmental and geographic health, climate change, as well as artificial intelligence and how to employ it in education. The conference included the participation of more than 80 researchers from Algeria, Syria, Lebanon, the Emirates, Iran, and Iraq in various scientific specializations. The conference recommended enhancing academic research as a reformative and enriching model for curricula and teaching methods, emphasizing the importance of scientific rigor in scientific research, adopting modern teaching methods, and empowering educational cadres by holding developmental workshops and lectures for school teachers in colleges of education for the humanities on an ongoing basis.
