The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the College of Education for Girls, organized a scientific symposium on violence against women on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The symposium aimed to explain the concept of violence, its causes, types and forms.
The symposium, presented by a number of female lecturers, included explaining the types of violence that women are exposed to, its causes, forms and sources, and the most prominent solutions and treatments for this phenomenon, which relate to family education, school and the role of the media in raising awareness of women's rights, in addition to resorting to security agencies in the event of exposure to violence.
The symposium showed the various forms of violence that women are exposed to, such as physical violence, which is one of the most common violations against women, and psychological, sexual and economic violence, which is practiced within the family in contemporary traditional societies.
The symposium was attended by Dr. Nidal, Dr. Rafeef Abdul Hafeez and lecturer Iman Naeem Shaeer
