The Department of History at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Martyrs Foundation, organized a scientific symposium on the Speicher incident in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs and the authorized person to manage and run the college, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Khazal.
The symposium aimed to introduce the Speicher crime as a genocide against humanity, its humanitarian and legal dimensions, and its impact on the unity of society and civil peace.
The symposium, which was moderated by a number of lecturers from the Department of History and the Martyrs Foundation in Basra, addressed the humanitarian, political and legal dimensions of the massacre. The Dean of the College explained the ugliness of the crime, which represents a genocide that is unparalleled in the present era and demonstrates the lack of conscience of its perpetrators who sold their souls to evil, so they deserved the curse of God and history. Dr. Haider stressed the need to learn from this crime and immortalize it according to the ugliness and enormity of the incident, and to educate and raise awareness against its perpetrators and work to combat extremism to achieve justice.
