The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on (Evaluation of the protective effects of garlic (Allium sativum) on the heart and blood vessels). The lecture, presented by the two lecturers (Assistant Professor Iqbal Abdulaziz Hazam and Assistant Professor Zainab Jassim Abdul Redha), addressed the benefits of eating garlic for patients with heart and blood vessels. The lecture discussed the topic of presenting garlic as an alternative to medications for high blood pressure and cholesterol and the most important research and what it has reached in this field. The lecture aims to raise awareness of heart diseases and the risks that follow them on the health of individuals. The lecture recommended using garlic and presenting it as a nutritional supplement for patients with high blood pressure and hypercholesterolemia, as well as a preventive treatment for people who may suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol due to unhealthy lifestyles or diseases such as obesity, diabetes, etc., as well as She recommended using the correct method for eating raw garlic by crushing or chopping it and waiting for 5 to 10 minutes to release the enzyme Allinase (ENZYME).
