The Polymer Research Center at the University of Basra held a workshop on mud or drilling fluid, in which Dr. Hekmat A R. Ali participated. It is a viscous and heavy liquid mixture used in oil well drilling operations, and also to lubricate the drill bit. The workshop aimed as a training course through which drilling fluids are identified, their importance is explained, and the types of drilling fluids are identified, as well as developing the skills of researchers in the field of drilling fluids.
