The English Department at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on the college students' orientation to choose the English Department.
The symposium aims to introduce students to the importance of studying in this department, its outcomes, and how to develop their capabilities to keep pace with the labor market.
The symposium, presented by a number of the department's instructors, addressed the importance of learning two different languages and cultures, Arabic and English, to open new and many horizons for obtaining job opportunities inside and outside Iraq, and to view the sources of world literature by studying English literature and its various schools, and learning modern and diverse methods and means of clarification through the curricula taught in the department
