The Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on the scourge of drugs, causes, treatments and prevention methods under the supervision of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs (Dean of the College from a lower position) Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Al-Kaabi.
The symposium aimed to identify the harms of drugs and the reasons for their spread among young people and ways to treat them, rehabilitate addicts and integrate them into society.
The symposium, which was moderated by a number of college instructors, addressed the reasons for the spread of drugs among young people and the role of the family and education in reducing them, prevention and treatment mechanisms and guidance procedures in confronting them and rehabilitating addicts and integrating them into society.
The symposium emphasized the role of educational institutions in raising awareness of the dangers of this phenomenon and ways to prevent it by holding seminars and guidance programs and developing scientific thinking to confront their problems and provide solutions. The symposium was attended by Prof. Dr. Maeda Mardan Muhi, Prof. Dr. Sanaa Abdul Zahra Al-Jumaan, Prof. Dr. Amal Abdul Razzaq Naeem, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ikthar Khalil Ibrahim, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaaban, and Prof. Dr. Muntadhar Abdullah Mughmas
