The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on the effects of drugs and ways to prevent them, entitled (Drugs in the Balance).
The symposium aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs on individuals and society, and to familiarize participants with their types and their negative impact on mental and physical health.
The symposium, presented by a number of the department's instructors, provided information on the types of drugs and their impact on health, how to recognize the signs and characteristics of addiction, its impact on the lives of individuals and society, and ways of prevention and treatment to reduce this growing phenomenon.
The symposium called for intensifying awareness campaigns in schools and universities, increasing family awareness and continuous follow-up of children, establishing specialized centers for rehabilitation and treatment of addiction, supporting the return of addicts to normal life, and providing sports and cultural programs and activities that occupy the time of young people.
The symposium was attended by Dr. Zainab Faleh Salem, Dr. Wissam Abdul Karim Hamid, instructor Asmaa Saleh, and instructor Zainab Samir Abdul Razzaq.
