University of Basra organizes a seminar on social-emotional learning among university students
The Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the Faculty of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra organized a seminar on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for university students.
The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of social emotional learning and the process of acquiring basic competencies and emotions, controlling them, setting goals and forming positive relationships with others.
Presented by Dr. Nawal Mohammed, the seminar explained that SEL builds core competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and healthy relationship competence, and builds central competencies in all students that make them able to realize how their thoughts and feelings affect their behavior, set their goals, control their emotions, understand social and ethical norms, and empathize with others.
