The Women's Affairs Unit and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Basra Police Command, organized a scientific symposium on "The Effects of Drugs and Methods of Treatment." The symposium aimed to identify the types of drugs, methods and instructions for treating addicts, and to enhance community awareness about the dangers of drugs and ways to prevent and treat them. The symposium, presented by Police Brigadier Hussein Faleh and Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Muzani, included a statement of scientific methods for detecting drugs and how to combat drug trafficking, their types and negative effects on the individual and society, highlighting methods for treating addicts and providing them with psychological and social support, and emphasizing the importance of cooperation between educational, security and health institutions in confronting this dangerous phenomenon. The symposium called for intensifying awareness and community efforts to reduce the spread of drugs, stressing the need for integrating roles between the family, school and society to ensure a healthy and safe environment
