The master's thesis in the Department of Geography/College of Education for Humanities/University of Basra (Spatial analysis of small industries in Al-Hartha and Shatt Al-Arab districts - a comparative study). The thesis presented by the student Ibtihal Jassim Saheb aimed to study small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab, and to know the impact of the geographical components that contributed to their settlement and geographical distribution, with a statement of their structure, in addition to identifying the most prominent problems facing small industries in the two districts and standing on their reality, which constitute an obstacle to their growth and development and developing appropriate solutions and treatments for them. The thesis included four chapters, the first of which dealt with two topics, and the first topic included defining the concept of small industries, their characteristics, classification and importance, while the second topic focused on the historical development of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab. As for the second chapter, it came with three topics. The first topic discussed the natural components for the settlement of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab, while the second topic addressed the human components for the settlement of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab. The third topic discussed the economic components for the settlement of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab, while the third chapter dealt with the structure of small industries And its spatial distribution in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab. This chapter included three topics. The first topic included the classification of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab based on structure, while the second topic focused on studying the spatial distribution of small industries in the two districts according to the type of industry, while the third topic addressed the spatial distribution of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab according to administrative units (districts), while the fourth chapter included three topics. The first topic discussed the statistical analysis of small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab, and the second topic addressed the most prominent problems suffered by small industries in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab, while the third topic addressed solutions to the problems of small industries in the two districts. The results of the study showed that the total number of small establishments in Al-Hartha and Shatt al-Arab districts reached (743) establishments and the total number of workers reached (2300) workers, including (314) establishments with (994) workers in Al-Hartha district, while the total number in Shatt al-Arab district reached (429) establishments with (1306) workers, and they were distributed over six main branches, which are (food industries, metal industries, wood products industries, textile industries and other industries)
