College of Pharmacy Organizes a Seminar on the Medical and Economic Benefits of the "Moringa" Tree
The Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants at the College of Pharmacy organized a specialized seminar on Moringa oleifera, presented by Lecturer Anwar Hamad Ali.
The seminar discussed the immense economic and medical benefits of this plant, emphasizing the potential investment of all its parts in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. It also reviewed the active compounds of essential oils extracted from leaves and seeds, highlighting their biological effectiveness as antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal agents.
The event aimed to highlight the therapeutic importance of the plant and encourage its local cultivation, given its high adaptability to water scarcity and low fertilization requirements. Furthermore, it was noted as a nutrient-rich supplement, packed with minerals and vitamins essential for treating anemia and combating inflammation.
