University of Basra faculty participates in an international conference in Iran
Dr. Shaker Wadi Jaber Al-Asadi, an instructor at the University of Basra's College of Education for Humanities, participated in the Third International Scientific Conference for Humanities and Social Sciences held in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The participation included the presentation of a research entitled The Economic Importance of Horses in the Islamic Era through Ibn Manzoor's Brief History of Damascus.
The research aimed to identify the economic importance of horses in the Arab-Islamic society through their use in warfare, agriculture, transportation, racing, and profitable trade for their multiple uses.
The research included showing the role of Muslims in developing and improving production by crossbreeding with non-Arabian horses to produce new breeds that are stronger and more beautiful than the previous horses, whether in productivity, carrying weights and using them in wars, as well as showing the prices and the possibility of selling them and their importance to the Arab individual and their association with the social status of their owner.
