A master's thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basra discussed the synthesis of (Ag, Zn, Fe, Si NPs) (using the green method and their use in controlling the house fly (Musca domestica L.) and study their synergistic effect with active compounds in some plants).
The researcher's thesis (Mawaheb Jassim Abdul Zahra) included the green synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts. The thesis also dealt with the characterization of nanoparticles to confirm the quality of the synthesis. The thesis aims to test the effectiveness of manufactured nanoparticles in controlling the house fly that transmits diseases by treating both the first and third stage larvae using the feeding method and adults using the contact method.
The study concluded that the manufactured nanoparticles were highly efficient in killing the tested insect stages and adults at low concentrations and with statistical differences compared to plant extracts. The study recommended testing the effectiveness of other types of nanoparticles on different insect stages. The study also recommended using a mixture of nanoparticles with active compounds in plant extracts to verify the synergistic effectiveness between them. The study also recommended evaluating the toxicity of the manufactured nanoparticles on one or two human cell lines.
