Scientific Activities | Panel Discussion on Computational Informatics in Immunology:
The Clinical Laboratory Sciences Branch at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, successfully organized a highly specialized scientific panel discussion titled: (Computational Informatics in Immunology).
The academic seminar included an in-depth scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Abdul-Ilah Abdul-Hussein Saheen. He thoroughly explained that immunology is a vast science, and one of its crucial modern branches is the exact preparation of vaccines and effectively stimulating the immune system through (Computational Informatics). This heavily relies on massive computational algorithms containing extensive scientific data regarding immunity, genes, and proteins.
He precisely clarified that this complex field is fundamentally built on intricate concepts and advanced software tools such as sequence alignment and vital protein structure prediction tools properly utilized in modern genomics and proteomics. Therefore, it is practically an integrated science that efficiently combines: immunology, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, and biochemistry for expansive large-scale analysis of immune system functions.
The primary aim of the insightful lecture was to carefully study complex (protein-protein) interactions and intricate immune signaling networks to achieve a more precise understanding of essential immune responses. This fundamentally explores their pivotal role during normal physiological states, pathological conditions, and cellular rebuilding phases. Computational immunology practically focuses on comprehensively analyzing massive amounts of generated experimental data.
