The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium entitled "Depression, How to Deal with It, and How to Help Others".
The symposium aimed to shed light on depression, which has recently greatly affected young people, especially with the increasing prevalence in the world to reach between 7% and 10% of the population, which means that millions of people suffer from this disease.
The symposium, presented by a number of college instructors, addressed the symptoms of depression and ways to recognize it, and the available treatment methods that include psychological and drug treatments.
Practical guidance was also provided to those around the patient on how to support and help them in dealing with this condition, and to enhance community awareness about the importance of seeking treatment at the appropriate time.
The symposium was moderated by instructors Wafaa Abbas, Maysaa Abdul Hussein, instructor Karar Ali Taama, and student Fatima Khaled Joda.
