A master's thesis at the college of science - geology at the University of Basrah examined the geochemistry and mineralogy of some rock units in Mount Sanam in southern Iraq. The thesis presented by the researcher Ghufran basil ghiyaz aims to determine the mineral properties, which included primary and secondary minerals that were affected by transformation and change processes, as well as studying the behavior and distribution of the main, rare and terrestrial rare elements in each rock unit separately.
The message included the importance of diagnosing minerals and the processes that affected them and benefiting from the distribution and behavior of the main, rare and terrestrial elements in understanding the origin and emergence of Mount Sanam
The letter concluded that Mount Sanam consists of several rock units, the most important of which are sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock units, and these units have been subjected to processes of change and transformation.
The letter recommended conducting a detailed geochemical study of the remaining types of rocks found in the Jebel Sanam area to determine their origin and using the geochemical radiometric dating methods adopted to determine the age of the rock units.
