The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra and the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a specialized scientific symposium entitled "The Psychological, Social, and Legal Effects of Drugs on Graduate Students." Held in the hall of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, the symposium aimed to shed light on the widespread harm caused by drugs to youth and university students, and to highlight their societal and health risks.
The symposium, presented by Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Muzani, Dr. Zahraa Saleh, and Dr. Zainab Jamil Abdul Jalil, addressed the impact of drugs on mental health and general behavior, as well as their legal repercussions, which may place students at risk of accountability and deprivation of their academic and professional future.
The symposium included field studies and real-life cases to illustrate the extent of the problem and ways to address it. Participants emphasized the importance of raising awareness on campus and activating the role of educational institutions in reducing the spread of this phenomenon.
