The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a training workshop on "Estimating Chemical Content in Plants." The workshop was presented by Prof. Muntaha Abdul Zahra Ati, Prof. Halima Jabbar Abdul Razzaq, Asst. Prof. Sajida Yassin Sweid, and Prof. Ansam Mahdi Saleh. The workshop aimed to estimate some important compounds in plants. The workshop targeted graduate students to facilitate the completion of their research requirements using practical methods conducted in the laboratory. The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to the importance of plant chemical compounds and how to extract and estimate these compounds, such as the amino acid proline using the fresh method, total soluble carbohydrates, and developing standards for the method. It also covered the extraction and estimation of alkaloids from various plants. The workshop recommended the need to provide regular workshops to meet the needs of researchers and workers in related scientific fields.
