Basra University Organizes a Development Course for Educational Counselors in Cooperation with Basra Education
The Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the College of Education for Human Sciences at Basra University, in cooperation with the Basra Governorate Education Directorate, organized a specialized training course to develop the skills of educational counselors working in the governorate's schools. The course was attended by a large number of educational counselors.
The course aimed to monitor graduates and enhance their practical skills and work as educational counselors in Basra Governorate schools.
The course, presented by department professors, included a series of orientation lectures that addressed important topics such as conceptual skills between theory and practice, the ethics of the counseling profession, the personal characteristics of the educational counselor and their role in counseling work, and the topic of behavioral contracting as part of the counseling process. The lectures were delivered by Professor Dr. Ma'ida Mardan, Professor Dr. Batoul Banai, Professor Dr. Hamid Qasim, Assistant Professor Dr. Ikthar Khalil, and Assistant Lecturer Hassan Shaaban, emphasizing the importance of developing the professional competencies of counselors, which will positively impact the educational and pedagogical environment in Basra schools.
