Dr. Shaker Wadi Jaber, a lecturer at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra, participated in the Fourth International Conference on Knowledge and the Husayni Message - The Forty-Days, held at the Holy University of Qom.
The participation included a presentation of a paper titled "Moral Philosophy in the Economic Data of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage."
The research aimed to understand the moral and philosophical depth of the economic data of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, analyze the economic cooperation represented by the numerous social and governmental economic activities and events, and the economic impacts produced by this phenomenon. It also demonstrated the relationship between the moral and economic dimensions of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage.
The research demonstrated that the Arbaeen Pilgrimage is a humanitarian phenomenon that combines spiritual, economic, and moral dimensions, and its role in stimulating local markets and supporting the national economy through seasonal demand for goods, services, and religious tourism. The study called for encouraging academic studies on the economic and social dimensions of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, adopting the pilgrimage model as a source of inspiration for a value-based cooperative economy, documenting official statistics related to the expenditures of the processions, given their usefulness in in-depth economic analysis, developing contemporary economic theories inspired by the philosophy of altruism and solidarity that emerges in the Arbaeen pilgrimage, and promoting a culture of conscious spending based on religious values through seminars and intellectual workshops inspired by the pilgrimage model. It also called for supporting the experience of the processions and providing logistical and organizational services that help them continue and improve performance without compromising the uniqueness of their voluntary nature.
