A master's thesis at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra investigated the estimation of erosion and surface runoff in the Seiban Valley Basin, southeast of Diyala Governorate.
The thesis, presented by student Sabah Diaa Lafta, aimed to determine the extent of erosion, both water and wind, and surface runoff in the Seiban Valley Basin, and to identify the geographical factors affecting the natural basin.
The thesis concluded that erosion processes, both water and wind, are prevalent in the study area. Water erosion is moderate according to the Gavrilovic model (EPM), while wind erosion is very high according to the Chepl index
