University of Basra Discusses Master's Thesis on "Preparation of New Interfering Network Polymers and Light-Emitting Polymers and Studying Their Thermal Properties"

The College of Science, Department of Chemistry, discussed a master's thesis entitled:
"Preparation of New Interfering Network Polymers and Light-Emitting Polymers and Studying Their Thermal Properties"
by graduate student (Dhurgham Fadhel Ibrahim). The thesis aims to: (Prepare a new type of interfering network polymers (IPNs) and study their thermal properties; prepare and characterize monomers for use in preparing a new type of PLED (Polymer Light-Emitting Diode); prepare polymers with fluorescent properties; and study the effect of the solvent on fluorescence spectra using solvents of different polarities. Prepare polymers affected by solvent polarity by studying the effect of the solvent on absorbance spectra. In addition, study the effect of stock shift on the prepared polymers and study the effect of electrical conductivity on the prepared polymers. Study some Physical properties, such as the energy band gap, of polymer films deposited on glass substrates using the spin coating technique were investigated.
The results indicate the following:
The study under investigation reveals the following:
1. The possibility of preparing homogeneous intercalated polymer networks (IPNs) between PFA and FAA on the one hand, and PFA and Pu on the other.
2. Four new types of light-seeking polymers (LEDs) were prepared by performing a Wittink reaction between the self-monomers, namely the diethyldehyde of anthracene and phosphonium compounds.
3. The monomers used to prepare the LEDs were characterized using FTIR and H-NMR techniques, while the GPC method was used to determine the molecular weight of the prepared polymers.
4. UV-vis spectroscopy measurements were performed on the polymers prepared using different solvents, in addition to fluorescence measurements. The results revealed a variation in the red and blue shift, and the stock shift was calculated.
5. A study was conducted. Strong and weak electrolytes of the prepared polymers were studied using the Kolrausch equation.
6. The optical properties of the prepared polymer films were studied to obtain important information, such as the energy gap and the nature of the energy bands.
The study recommends:
1. It is possible to prepare new types of IPNs using polymers other than those in the study, in addition to preparing different types of LED polymers.
2. We recommend performing TGA measurements with mass spectrometry to provide a clear mechanism for the thermal decomposition of the IPNs prepared in the study.
3. Preparing polymers that provide a mirror image for UV-Vis and fluorescence spectra.
4. Preparing polymers with high electrical conductivity values through doping using chemical and physical methods.
