The Continuing Education Center at the University of Basrah organized a lecture on instructional design in applied specializations as part of the fifth Teaching Methods Course, Unit Two.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Zainab Ali Khalaf, introduced trainees to the process of designing a lesson in a systematic and professional manner that benefits both instructors and students, as it saves time and effort for both parties. The lecture also emphasized the importance of instructional design in presenting scientific content in a clear, coherent, and well-structured way. By the end of the session, participants were expected to understand the concept and significance of instructional design for both instructors and learners, recognize the value of formulating SMART objectives, and easily determine classroom rules.
The lecture further aimed to help trainees identify the fundamental principles of instructional design planning, distinguish between strategy, method, and technique, and recognize the essential features of effective teaching strategies. Additionally, participants gained the ability to apply lesson design using the Toolkit instrument.
