The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on emerging pollutants, their challenges, and treatment methods.
The workshop aimed to introduce these pollutants, their types, and their sources.
The workshop, presented by Inas Awni Mahdi, a lecturer in the Department of Ecology, addressed the harmful effects on human health and the environment, including their risks to water quality and biodiversity, and the most important modern methods for treating them.
The workshop recommended concerted efforts to find a comprehensive solution to these pollutants by monitoring and tracking their concentrations, finding appropriate solutions for their disposal, updating laws regarding their handling, handling, and release into the environment, and highlighting the importance of raising awareness of the dangers of these pollutants to reduce their excessive use in our daily lives.
