A master's thesis in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance / College of Education for Humanities - University of Basra examines "Unrealistic Optimism and Its Relationship to Social Exclusion among University Students."
The thesis, presented by researcher Sara Nazem Muhaisen, aims to identify unrealistic optimism among university students, social exclusion among university students, the correlation between unrealistic optimism and social exclusion among university students, and the significance of differences in the correlation between unrealistic optimism and social exclusion among university students.
The researcher adopted the Al-Zamili Scale (2023) to measure unrealistic optimism and constructed a social exclusion scale based on Bass's theory (1962).
The following results were obtained: University students experience a high degree of unrealistic optimism, and a high degree of social exclusion. There is a direct correlation between unrealistic optimism and social exclusion. There are no differences in the correlation between unrealistic optimism and social exclusion according to the variables of gender and specialization.
