University of Basra Organizes Scientific Symposium on Parliamentary Elections in Cooperation with the High Commission
The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission/Basra Office, organized a specialized scientific symposium on the parliamentary elections. The symposium was attended by a number of academics and college students.
The symposium aimed to highlight the technical and organizational measures taken by the commission and raise electoral awareness among university students.
The symposium included lectures delivered by a number of commission employees, covering the most important legal and administrative aspects regulating the electoral process, mechanisms for updating the voter registry, and the adoption of biometric cards. It also discussed the most prominent challenges facing the commission's work and ways to address them.
This symposium comes within the framework of strengthening the partnership between the University of Basra and independent bodies in the field of political awareness and the need to engage students in supporting the democratic process.
