discussed a master's thesis in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Basra University (Pathological and Biochemical Assessment of Liver Cirrhosis in Dogs, Basra province).
The thesis of the researcher, Shahd Saad, included observing the clinical signs of cirrhosis, collecting blood samples and tissue samples from the liver, and then taking blood samples to examine white blood cells and examine liver enzymes and tissue change of the cirrhotic liver.
The thesis aimed to identify the seroprevalence associated with the stages of liver cirrhosis in dogs in addition to identifying the main pathogenic histology.
The thesis concluded that cirrhosis of the liver in guard dogs and K9 is widespread in Basra Governorate, and this affects the health of the animal through the appearance of some clinical signs, as well as an increase in the serum of liver enzymes and an increase in serum (CCL2, IL-6) associated with the stages of liver cirrhosis.
The thesis recommended the use of cytological examination of fluids in the liver to determine the causes of fibrosis in dogs and the use of flexible imaging technology in diagnosis.
