The Department of geoscience at the college of Science discussed a PhD thesis entitled morphotectonics of the low – lying folds of the Tayeb-Badra areas of eastern Iraq using remote sensing techniques. Researcher (Zeinab Adel Issa ) the study included the morphotectonic assessment of the Tayeb and Badra areas by applying morphotectonic evidence on the rivers of the study areas.the differential synthetic aperture radar ( DInSAR) technology was also applied by selecting a specific earthquake for each area, and monitoring the deformation of the earth as a result of this earthquake by measuring the vertical and horizontal displacement of the study areas after the earthquake. the results obtained from the morphotectonic evidence have concluded that there is active tectonic activity in both study areas. The study recommends the need to monitor earthquakes and conduct periodic studies to find out the extent of the impact of these earthquakes on the study areas. The study also recommends conducting various tectonic, seismic and geomorphological studies .These ongoing studies will contribute to a better understanding of tectonic activity and provide valuable information for taking action to mitigate seismic hazards.
