The Consulting Office at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Basrah, held a course in the fundamentals of computer maintenance. This course was part of the college's development programs aimed at enhancing the technical and practical skills of its students and staff.
The course aimed to prepare trainees to understand computer hardware and software components and how to work with them. It equipped them with the ability to diagnose malfunctions and identify their causes, whether related to internal components or software and operating systems. It also helped them learn preventative maintenance methods to preserve device performance and reduce future malfunctions. Furthermore, it provided an opportunity to learn the steps for safely disassembling and reassembling a computer and understanding the function of each component. The course also trained participants in installing and configuring operating systems correctly. The ultimate goal of this course was to qualify participants to practically handle common malfunctions and pave the way for specialization in broader fields such as advanced maintenance, networking, or technical support.
The course, conducted by Professor Abdulkarim Majbal Farhan, a member of the college's Information Technology Department, included a number of basic and advanced topics designed to suit different levels of learners, from beginners to intermediate users. The course included several aspects to enhance the skills of the participants.
