
The joint patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, included extracting a natural dye from the sepals Hibiscus Sabdariffa plant.
The Joint patent aimed at proving that the extract of the Hibiscus plant can be a local, low-cost and available source of plant pigments in accurate cellular, anatomical and phenotypic studies, as well as the fact that plant pigments are environmentally friendly.
It is worth mentioning that the joint research team included the faculty members at the College of Science, University of Basrah Dr. Sahar AbdAl-Abbas Al-Saadi, and the researcher Mrs. Haya Abd Shaker, and the faculty member in the University of Sulaimani Karzan Omar Kadir.
