The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on aquatic plants and their capacity to accumulate heavy metals. The seminar, presented by Master's student Ruqaya Ahmed Hussein, aimed to familiarize attendees with heavy metals, their natural and unnatural sources, and the mechanisms of heavy metal accumulation in different parts of the plant. It also aimed to identify the environmental factors affecting these accumulation processes.
The seminar emphasized the importance of aquatic plants in addressing heavy metal pollution and their potential use as bioindicators of pollution.
