The Date Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “Research Gaps in Date Palm Studies and the Research Plan Preparation Form.”
The workshop aimed to clarify the methodologies for identifying research gaps in the field of date palm studies and to enhance researchers’ skills in preparing research plans according to established scientific principles.
The workshop, presented by Prof. Hussein Jasem Sharif, included a practical explanation of the concept of research gaps and how to extract them from published studies, in addition to outlining the essential steps for completing the research plan preparation form with scientific accuracy.
It also addressed the scientific foundations for identifying research gaps in date palm research, reviewing the main research themes and challenges facing this sector. The workshop further included a brief explanation of mechanisms for determining research gaps through recent studies, along with an applied example on the effect of nano-selenium in reducing oxidative damage under heat stress.
