The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized an awareness seminar on the phenomenon of violence against women, held in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The seminar, organized by the Women's Unit at the College of Education for Humanities, was attended by faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the various forms of violence women face, highlight its psychological and social impacts, and discuss the role of academic institutions, legislation, and laws in protecting women's rights.
The seminar, presented by Iman Naeem Sha'ir, Dr. Nawal Mohammed Assaf, and Dr. Ruwaida Mustafa Mansour, addressed the role of society in fostering a culture of non-violence and the importance of raising community awareness to create a supportive environment for women, thereby enhancing their status as active and influential members in building and advancing society.
