A master's thesis in the College of Pharmacy at Basrah University entitled (Development and Characterization of Micelles Containing Diazepam) was presented by MS.C student Muhannad Salah Hamzah. The thesis studied the development and characterization of micelles containing diazepam to treat the problems and side effects of children with epilepsy when diazepam intravenously is administered, as well as the ease with which it can be diluted or also mixed with distilled water or other intravenous fluids in the emergency department of the hospital.This study included an attempt to develop and prepare diazepam on the nanoscale method using two principles: emulsion and micelles. The optimum formula has been formulated using different proportions (castor oil, coconut oil), surfactants (Tween 80, Tween 20) and surfactants (ethanol, methanol) with water as a second phase.The thesis concluded that the formula F2 containing Tween 80 as a substance with a surfactant ratio of 1: 5 was chosen as the best drug formulation for many reasons, including: with a small PDI (0.135), and ideal short volumes Z-average (69.83), It has a high loading rate (93.44%), with a pH (6.8), and the results also show the drug release better than other formulas. It is also physically stable without any noticeable changes in the observed parameters during three months of storage at 25 and 4 ° C. These tests have shown that it is an effective technique for overcoming the associated problems through direct administration of diazepam as an IV.
