Within the framework of joint cooperation in the field of awareness activities between the Cultural Center and the College of Arts at the University of Basra, the Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts, held an awareness seminar entitled (Domestic Violence), managed by Professor Dr. Nizar Abdul Mohsen Jaafar, Director of the Cultural Center.
The seminar included the presentation of two working papers; the first was entitled (The Phenomenon of Domestic Violence and the Role of the Iraqi Project in Providing the Necessary Protection to Reduce this Phenomenon) presented by Lecturer Dr. Abdul Jalil Ghadhban Mahdi, while the second paper was entitled (Domestic Violence: Types and its Effects on Society) presented by Professor Dr. Amal Abdul Rahman.
The two papers addressed the social, legal and psychological aspects related to domestic violence, highlighting ways to reduce its negative effects on the individual and society.
The seminar was attended by a number of professors, administrative staff, and first-year students from the Department of Information and Knowledge Technology, as well as several members of the Cultural Center. The seminar was enriched by interventions and discussions that emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about this phenomenon and the necessity of activating the academic and cultural role in addressing it.
