The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah held a lecture on instructional design for the second unit.
The lecture, which forms part of the Sixth Teaching Methods Course for the updated curriculum of the second unit within the educational specialization, aimed to develop trainees’ instructional design skills.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Baha’a Shubram Ghadheeb and Dr. Zainab Falih Salim. It addressed the role of instructional design models as supportive tools in the educational process, through which appropriate methods for teaching instructional content are identified. Among the most widely used instructional design models highlighted was the ADDIE model, which is distinguished by several features, including ease of use, applicability to various types of education and training, time, effort, and cost efficiency, as well as flexibility for modification. Moreover, it is particularly suitable for novice teachers and trainers.
Instructional design is a systematic process aimed at planning educational systems to operate at the highest levels of effectiveness and efficiency in order to facilitate learning and ensure its occurrence among learners. It can also be developed and adapted according to the requirements of the specific field of specialization.
