The Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra, organized a scientific seminar entitled "Mind Distraction Among University Students: Causes, Effects, and Solutions." The seminar was attended by the Dean's Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Imam, along with several faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of mind distraction among university students, explain its various causes and negative consequences, and discuss scientific and practical methods for addressing it.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Zahraa Saleh Al-Saidi, Lecturer Hanin Jawad Kadhim, and Lecturer Adhraa Jabbar Sattar, addressed the most prominent causes of mind distraction, including excessive use of technology and social media, weak time management skills, and psychological and social factors that affect students' concentration and mental stability.
The seminar also highlighted the effects of mind distraction, such as decreased concentration, reduced motivation to learn, declining academic performance, and increased levels of anxiety and stress. In conclusion, she presented a set of practical solutions that contribute to enhancing focus and developing self-awareness among students, and improving mental organization and time management skills
