The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah held a training course entitled "The Correct Use of Arabic," with the participation of a number of employees and those interested in linguistic matters. This initiative is part of the university's efforts to promote the correct use of Arabic in academic and administrative work.
The course aimed to familiarize trainees with mechanisms for identifying common linguistic errors and ways to avoid them.
The course, presented by Dr. Abbas Abdul-aziz Sayhood, included an explanation of the fundamentals of correct Arabic, common spelling, morphological, and grammatical errors and methods for correcting them, in addition to explaining the rules for writing the hamza, distinguishing between the ta' marbuta and ta' maftuha, the letters dad and dha', the alif layyina, the subject and predicate, kana and its sisters, inna and its sisters, punctuation marks, and numbers and their counted nouns.
