The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Basrah organized a comprehensive scientific and awareness seminar titled:
"Concept of Insulin Resistance."
Lecturer Heba Dawood explained the precise medical definition of insulin resistance, where body cells fail to respond naturally to insulin, forcing the pancreas to overproduce the hormone to stabilize blood sugar levels.
The lecture aimed to raise health awareness regarding early intervention for insulin resistance to prevent Type 2 diabetes and protect patients from risks of atherosclerosis, heart disease, and other serious metabolic disorders.
