The Department of Pathological Analyses at the Faculty of Science at the University of Basrah participated in the "World Leadership Week" with the viral Shunt project of student Mohammed Baqer Fouad Thijeel, the first stage, under the supervision of Dr. Majid Nouri Hammoud al-Yasiri.
In the presence of the president of Basra University, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Imam, and a selection of professors.
The project aimed to exploit the phenomenon of the "viral pump" in the marine environment to convert organic carbon and algae into high-efficiency organic fertilizers. The project is aimed at isolating and diagnosing specialized viral strains and employing them in "bioreactors" to produce environmentally friendly agricultural nutrients, which contributes to reducing carbon emissions and solving soil salinity problems in Basra governorate.
