The Guidance Unit at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra, organized a seminar on critical thinking skills and their role in countering extremist ideology. The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the historical roots of extremism and the academic activities designed to enhance intellectual awareness among students and instill a culture of moderation and constructive dialogue.
The seminar, presented by instructors Banin Siwan Al-Halfi and Ibtihal Farhan, addressed the importance of critical thinking and its role in building a balanced personality capable of objective analysis and evaluation. It also discussed critical thinking skills and their role in analyzing extremist discourse and its inherent fallacies.
The seminar emphasized the importance of developing these skills as the first line of defense against intellectual deviations and in distinguishing between moderate and extremist thought, thereby strengthening intellectual security and social stability
