The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Unit, organized an awareness seminar on how to interact with the elderly. The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of psychological and social care for the elderly and to demonstrate sound educational methods for interacting with them in a way that preserves their dignity and strengthens their position within the family and society.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Zahraa Abbas Hindi, Dr. Ruwaida Mustafa Mansour, and Ms. Iman Naeem, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit, addressed important scientific and educational topics. These topics centered on methods of psychological and social interaction with the elderly, ways to enhance their humane care, and the role of educational and community institutions in establishing a culture of support and assistance.
The seminar emphasized the necessity of patience, dialogue, and persuasion when interacting with the elderly, and the importance of understanding their psychological and health needs, particularly the potential for interference from close relatives.
