The Polymer Research Center at the University of Basra hosted a workshop on nanotechnology in engineering industries, presented by Dr. Shaymaa Abdul Kareem Shihab. The workshop aimed to explore how nanotechnology can be used to improve material properties such as strength, lightness, and corrosion resistance, contributing to the production of more efficient and longer-lasting materials. In mechanical engineering, nanomaterials help in manufacturing lighter and more robust parts. In civil engineering, they are used to produce stronger concrete that is more resistant to cracking and environmental factors. In the field of electronics, nanotechnology enables the manufacturing of smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient devices, such as advanced electronic chips. It is also used in the development of smart coatings that are resistant to heat and humidity.Overall, nanotechnology contributes to cost reduction, improved performance, and opens new horizons for innovation in various engineering industries.
