The college of science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on the zoning - based rock classification for high-precision stratification of the supervisor formation in the Rumaila oil field, Iraq
The seminar aimed at understanding the sedimentary and petrophysical characteristics of the supervisor formation and assessing the heterogeneity of the reservoir, demonstrating the importance of the integration of geological and petrophysical data in the analysis of deposits. It also seeks to clarify the role of petrophysical classification in assessing the quality of the reservoir, and the role of stratigraphic analysis of sequences in explaining sedimentary evolution, which contributes to improving reservoir modeling and supporting production development strategies
The seminar in which the researcher (Benin Mohamed Zamil) presented a scientific presentation to characterize and analyze the formation of the supervisor in the northern Rumaila field to understand its sedimentary and petrophysical properties and assess the heterogeneity of the reservoir. It relied on the integration of core data, thin slices, and conventional and advanced well records, with the presentation of the classification of deposits into fourteen groups and linking them with the petrophysical classification to clarify their impact on reservoir quality, porosity and permeability distribution, in addition to clarifying the role of stratigraphic analysis of sequences in determining the boundaries of sequences, greatest immersion surfaces, and tracking sedimentary cycles.
