The Arabic Language Department at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra, organized a seminar entitled "The Psychological Impact of Clothing on Changing Human Thought and Behavior," attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to demonstrate the influence of clothing colors and styles on shaping an individual's psychological state and its reflection on their behavior, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of clothing in consolidating cultural identity and national belonging.
The seminar, presented by Mr. Jassim Al-Saidi, included a discussion of the impact of clothing on shaping the thinking of young people. He pointed out that some modern fashions do not represent authentic Iraqi dress, and discussed the symbolism of colors, explaining that black reflects sadness and pessimism, while white symbolizes joy. He called for greater attention to be paid to traditional Iraqi dress for both men and women as an important element in strengthening national identity
