The English Department at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra, organized a workshop titled "The Formation of Fictional Characters," attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The workshop aimed to develop students' skills in creative writing, particularly in constructing fictional characters in an artistic manner that reflects psychological depth and realism.
The workshop, presented by instructors Islam Adel Jabbar and Haider Riyadh Subaih, addressed several key aspects of fiction writing, including character development, character progression within the narrative, and character types in literary works.
The workshop also included a practical application through the analysis of the novel "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri, with the goal of enhancing students' understanding and bridging the gap between theory and practice
