The Department of Physics at the College of Science, University of Basrah, organized a seminar titled “Preparation of Nanomaterials via Green Synthesis: Principles, Challenges, and Future Prospects,” presented by Dr. Marwa Jawad Kazem.
The seminar included a discussion of green synthesis of nanomaterials as a modern and sustainable alternative to traditional chemical and physical methods, which are costly and have harmful environmental impacts. It focused on the fundamental principles of this method, through the use of biological resources such as plant extracts and microorganisms as environmentally friendly reducing and stabilizing agents, while explaining the factors influencing the properties of nanomaterials, such as size, shape, and stability.
It also addressed the most significant challenges, including the difficulty of precisely controlling structural properties and the limitations of industrial-scale production, as well as issues of reproducibility and stability, while reviewing its prospects and applications in the fields of the environment, energy, and biomedicine, thereby promoting the development of this research area.
