The Date Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled “Nanofertilizers: Between Technological Advancement and Usage Considerations.”
The seminar aimed to introduce nanotechnology and its agricultural applications, highlighting its importance and role in improving plant growth and enhancing productivity.
The seminar, delivered by Abdul Samad Aboud Abdullah, reviewed the origins and development of nanoscience and nanotechnology in both general and agricultural fields. It also discussed the concept of nanofertilizers, their advantages compared with conventional fertilizers, methods of production, and the mechanisms by which they are transported and function within plants.
In addition, the seminar addressed the role of nanofertilizers in reducing the effects of environmental stress and improving the efficiency of nutrient uptake. It also examined the precautions and concerns associated with their use regarding human health and the environment, while highlighting their importance in the growth and production of date palms.
