PhD thesis in the College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed (Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) Genotyping and Evaluation of Cell Mediated Immunity in Patients with VZV Infection), and the thesis of the researcher (Rabab Naeem Alag) showed the diagnosis of the circulating genotype of VZV and the investigation of the immune status of infected individuals. The study included collecting samples from patients infected with Varicella Zoster Virus, and the study recommended the necessity of including IFN-α, CD4, and CD8 as immune biomarkers in the clinical evaluation of VZV infection to improve early diagnosis and disease monitoring, and the gene expression analysis of TLR7 should be considered a complementary molecular marker, especially for evaluating disease severity and the host immune response.
